About Honda Car Company

Honda Car Insurance

When it comes to one of the leading Japanese automobile manufacturers, Honda is well-known. Established by engineer Soichiro Honda in 1948, Honda Motor Company began motorcycle production in 1949.

Although the company began as a motorcycle manufacturer, it gradually entered the car market, introducing popular models such as the Honda Accord and Honda Civic. From hatchbacks to sedans and SUVs, Honda has given the world notable models.

Honda Cars India Ltd. was established in 1995 as a subsidiary of Honda Motor Company. Honda follows strict standards across all its establishments to protect the environment, ensure safety, and support societal conservation.

Some popular Honda cars in India include Amaze, City, Civic, and Jazz. These are known for reliability, advanced engineering, and fuel-efficient models. Honda's sedans and SUVs are designed with Indian roads in mind to provide the utmost safety and comfort. To further enhance the vehicle's safety, buying motor insurance is highly recommended.

Popular Honda Car Models

1
Honda City (5th Generation)

One of the most popular sedans in the country, the Honda City is the ideal vehicle for city driving, offering premium comfort and driving pleasure at an affordable price. The newest generation of the City comes in nine trim levels, in both petrol and diesel versions, with the former also offering a seven-speed automatic transmission.

At HDFC ERGO, we offer one of the most comprehensive Honda City car insurance policies to protect your car.

2
Honda City (4th Generation)

Despite the launch of its newer sibling, the 4th-generation City is still a popular choice among Honda cars, given its aggressive pricing and feature set. It is now being offered only in petrol-manual powertrain options with two specifications. Its highest spec car is more affordable than the 5th gen’s entry-level variant, making it attractive to those looking for a luxury sedan on a budget.

Make sure to get the best car insurance for the Honda City to get your vehicle road-ready. At HDFC ERGO, we offer the most competitive Honda City insurance price, so you don't have to think twice before purchasing one.

3
Honda Amaze

A car that slots below the City, the Amaze is Honda’s entry-level sedan. Priced to compete with premium hatchbacks and compact SUVs, two of the fastest growing segments in the country, the Amaze holds its own and delivers well, which makes it highly attractive to a large customer base that associates sedans with ‘success’.

4
Honda WR-V

The new facelifted, sub-4-metre SUV enters a segment that is packed with competitors but offers the refinement of Honda’s BSVI-compliant engines and practicality as a family car. Its SUV-like positioning ensures great interior space and features. Honda has added its new infotainment system and a one-touch electric sunroof (top-spec variant) as well as ABS, dual airbags, and a multi-view rear camera to its only SUV in the country.

5
Honda Jazz

The premium hatchback has made a much-awaited return to Indian shores, with petrol-only options and an automatic transmission variant. The CVT variant features paddle shifters, and the vehicle also offers a segment-first electric sunroof. It continues its tradition of extracting maximum interior space from its limited dimensions, also offering a sizable boot.

With a refined, butter-smooth engine and driver aids, it can cruise on highways and zip through cities with equal ease.

6
Honda Civic

The Civic is one of the most popular Honda cars on the roads, and certainly a head-turner. This premium sedan from Honda’s stable is striking in both its exterior and interior design. The smooth engines and ride quality are targeted at enthusiasts, while it also ranks highly in the safety department with four-disc brakes and six airbags.

Why Does Your Honda Need Car Insurance?

Car insurance is an essential document for any motor vehicle in India. Not only is it mandatory under the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988, but it is also highly recommended. A car insurance policy is the much-needed protective shield for your vehicle because:

1
Coverage for Own Damages

A comprehensive car insurance policy provides coverage for the insured vehicle's own damages. This means the accidental damages and loss incurred by the insured vehicle are covered by the insurance provider. You need not bear the expenses of repair or the loss.

2
Third-Party Liabilities

Accidents on roads can cause third-party damages as well. Having a car insurance plan ensures such losses are covered by the insurer. It is also legally mandatory for motor vehicles to have at least third-party car insurance.

3
Peace of Mind

Above all, car insurance provides peace of mind to the car owner. You know someone is there to take care of losses and related expenses in case of a mishap.

4
Legal Obligations

As mentioned above, the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 makes it mandatory for motor vehicles to have at least a third-party motor insurance to legally drive on Indian roads. So, having a car insurance policy also means you have fulfilled the legal obligations.

Add On Covers with your Honda Car Insurance

The basic coverages for car insurance may not include everything. This is when add-on covers come into use. These are additional coverages that you may buy with comprehensive car insurance plans.

Some of the most popular add-ons are:

1
Zero Depreciation Cover

With this add-on, the car's depreciation is not calculated or deducted from the claim amount.

2
Key Replacement

Car keys can be expensive. With the key replacement add-on cover, the insurer covers the cost of key replacement.

3
Pay-As-You-Drive Cover

Depending on how you use the insured car, the premium is determined for your pay-as-you- drive add-on cover. It is especially useful for EVs.

4
Cost of Consumables

The cost of the consumables add-on covers expenses for items such as nuts, bolts, engine oil, brake fluid, etc.

5
No Claim Bonus Protect

No claim bonus becomes zero if you raise a claim. With the NCB protect add-on, you get a few claims in a policy year that don't affect the accumulated NCB.

6
Emergency Assistance Cover

In case your vehicle needs towing or fuel delivery in the middle of the road, the roadside assistance add-on cover becomes helpful.

7
Engine and Gearbox Protection

Engine or gearbox damages are typically not covered in basic car insurance. With the engine and gearbox protection add-on, such expenses are also covered.

8
Tyre Secure Cover

Tyre replacement can be expensive for cars, especially for luxury models. With tyre secure cover, your insurer covers the tyre replacement costs.

9
Downtime Protection

When the car is in the garage for repair services, downtime protection is compensated with a daily allowance to the car owner.

10
Return to Invoice

In case of total loss or theft of the vehicle, the insurer compensates the car owners with the invoice value of the car. It is typically higher than IDV (Insured Declared Value).

11
Loss of Personal Belongings

This add-on covers belongings inside your car. In case these listed items are lost, the insurer compensates for the same.

Tip: You may also get most of these add-ons with standalone OD car insurance. Check out the best options of Honda car insurance online with HDFC ERGO.

Calculate Honda Car Insurance Premium

Frequently asked questions on Honda Car Insurance

Renewing your Honda car insurancepolicy after it has expired is super easy and simple. Log onto HDFC ERGO and purchase a new policy. When entering your previous policy details, you will have the option to renew it, albeit with an inspection of the car, depending on the time that has elapsed. If you renew it close to the expiry date, you may even be eligible to self-inspect the car and send pictures and videos of the vehicle to the insurer before it is approved. After you make the payment, you will be insured again.
The NCB is preserved upto 90 days of policy expiry, after which it is reset to zero. However, you can get an NCB reservation letter from the insurer in case you sell your car and pass the endorsement (change in policy about car ownership). This letter, i.e., the NCB, is valid for a period of three years. But if you sell your car after three months post-policy period, you will not be eligible for an NCB reservation letter.
Renewing your Honda car insurance online is even easier and simpler than buying a new one. Log onto HDFC ERGO or download the mobile app. Select the renew policy option and update car details. Select the IDV and make the payment. The entire process will take less than 3 minutes.
Taking a comprehensive Honda car insurance is almost always the recommended option. And with that we recommend the zero-depreciation cover and return to invoice cover. The zero-depreciation cover saves you the cost of paying for depreciation when repairing or replacing parts of your car after an accident. The return to invoice cover pays you the full price you had paid for the car in case of total loss or theft. Furthermore, you can consider the NCB protection add-on to file a claim without losing your NCB. And if you live in a flood-prone area, then an engine protection cover is a must.
Firstly, compare policies online to arrive at the average IDV range of your vehicle. Then compare the premium rates as well. It’s important to choose anoptimum Insured Declared Value(IDV) to premium ratio. Lowering your IDV will lower your premium, but you may end up underinsured. Similarly, a higher IDV may not be as cost-effective. IDV is the maximum payout you can receive from the insurer – in cases involving theft or total loss of the vehicle. Make use of the add-ons, as they are likely to change depending on your usage of the car. Avail an NCB protection add-on if you foresee a claim being made in the following year. Choose an engine protection add-on if you’re parking your car in the basement where water logging is a possibility.
