Bajaj Discover Two Wheeler Insurance

Bajaj has been one of the leading manufacturers in the market for commuter bikes in India for a long time now. Bajaj is one of the few homegrown manufacturers which is putting up a tough fight against international brands. The Discover commuter bike series is now steadily filling the spot left behind by the iconic Pulsar range and is attracting a lot of attention thanks to its high-quality performance and affordable pricing.

Currently, there are four Bajaj Discover models in the market, and the company is bringing in great mileage and the latest bike engine technology to this sector with this series. Read on to know more about the different models in the line-up and bike insurance for your Bajaj Discover.

Popular Bajaj Discover Models

1
Bajaj Discover 110
The Discover 110 was introduced as a premium commuter bike.. It is powered by a 115cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine and comes with a semi-digital instrument cluster, and the patented Bajaj DTS-i twin spark technology. The Discover 110 has a stylish design and is available in red, blue or black. The bike was updated with the CBS anti-skid technology, a variant that is priced at Rs.53,274 (ex-showroom price, may vary) which is Rs.564 more than the standard 110 model. Although the production has been discontinued as of March 2020, the Bajaj Discover 110 BS6 compliant bike will be introduced next year in India.
2
Bajaj Discover 125
The Discover 125 is a solid, powerful, yet affordable commuter bike that undercuts a number of its rivals in the sector. The older Bajaj Discover 125 has also been discontinued as of March 2020, but will be replaced by the new emission norms-compliant Discover 125 BS6 in the next year or so. The new model will be powered by a 125cc engine and will have similar specs as the older version. The drum brake variant is priced at Rs.58,003 and the disc brake version is priced at Rs.61,504 (ex-showroom prices, Delhi). The bike sports snazzy graphics, revoked headlights, tail light bezel, dual-tone seat and colour options of blue, red, black and grey.
3
Bajaj Discover 125 ST
The Discover 125 ST was Bajaj’s attempt at livening up the commuter bike sector. The bike is based on the 125 chassis, with certain modifications to account for the monoshock. The 125 ST is a more imposing and muscular-looking version of the ST, in terms of design but is actually more compact in terms of dimensions. The engine is the same unit but accommodates four valves. The notable feature is that the new seat that is a bit lower than the standard Discover is more comfortable. The price tag of Rs.57,703 (ex-showroom, Delhi) rivals the Hero Glamour and TVS Phoenix.
4
Bajaj Discover 150
The Bajaj Discover 150 standard model was discontinued in August 2017, but a new BS6 version is coming to the market in the next year or so. The two models of the Discover 150 were the Discover 150 ST and the 150F. Both models ran on the same engine, but they differed significantly in design and look. The new BS6 model will be priced at Rs.75,253 in India (ex-showroom), while the older 150S retailed at Rs.54,521 for the drum variant and Rs.57,630 for the front disc variant. The Discover 150 delivered improved design and powerful performance that bridged the gap between the commuter bike sector and the premium sports bike sector. The 144.8cc, OHC, four-stroke engine and DTS-i technology delivered a better fuel economy in this 150cc bike.

In India, only third-party liability insurance is absolutely compulsory. However, it doesn’t hurt to get extra protection in the form of comprehensive bike insurance or add-on covers such as Zero Depreciation or Emergency Roadside Assistance.
Given that different bike variants are priced differently, according to their performance and features, it goes without saying that the insurance policies will also be priced differently. For instance, the Discover 110 bike which is priced at Rs.53,274 will have lower insurance costs. Meanwhile, the upcoming 150 BS6 model, which carries more features and is a newer introduction, will cost you more to insure. However, third-party insurance covers are regulated by the IRDAI, and the insurance costs are uniform across different vehicles, so that is one less thing to worry about.
It is vital that you are aware of what is not included in your Bajaj Discover bike insurance policy, so that you do not have to face the disappointment of your claim getting rejected. Some of the typical policy exclusions include costs related to the depreciation of bike parts, expenses due to the natural wear and tear of your vehicle, electrical or mechanical breakdowns, and costs for damages incurred while driving under the influence, driving without a license and other such illegal behaviours.
