TVS Wego Two Wheeler Insurance

TVS Wego was launched in 2010, a scooterette that immediately captured the market with its superior stability and handling. Over the course of the next five years, it won several ‘Scooter of the Year’ awards and received the Indian Design Mark award in 2014 as well.

With its lightweight yet sturdy design, and low-friction engine, TVS Wego delivers a mileage of 62kmpl. The mileage is especially handy given the 5-litre capacity of the fuel tank. In 2017, TVS released a new BSVI-compliant Wego with subtle updates such as the dual side handle lock, parking lights, ignition key glow, mobile charging provision, etc. However, it was discontinued in 2020 to make way for its successor, the uber-successful TVS Jupiter. But Wego continues to enjoy cult-status amongst the TVS faithful, even 10 years down the line.

Popular TVS Wego Variants

1
TVS Wego Drum
The standard model of TVS Wego comes with drum brakes. It is powered by a 109cc, single cylinder engine, that produces 8bhp at 7,500rpm. Its low seat height and lightweight design ensures that everyone can ride it comfortably. Ride stability is aided by the large 12-inch tubeless tyres.
2
TVS Wego Disc
The top-spec variant of TVS Wego comes with large front disc brakes – 220mm, and a digital instrument cluster. The update also brought with it a generous palette of colours, alloy wheels, and more, to make it more competitive.

Types of TVS Wego Insurance HDFC ERGO Offers

Your ownership of the scooter also involves keeping it in good shape. Avail insurance to ensure you’re not financially strained in the event of an accident. While a TVS Wego third party bike insurance is mandatory, it is recommended to opt for a comprehensive bike insurance plan to extend the coverage and protect your own bike against theft, natural or manmade calamities, and accidents. Let’s look at the available plans in detail.

This comprehensive policy is the most-recommended plan for your TVS Wego as it comes with own damage protection as well as a third-party liability cover. Moreover, you can choose the tenure of the plan up to 3 years to avoid renewal hassles. Furthermore, it includes the mandatory personal accident cover to help you out financially in case of treatment or hospitalisation.

Riding without a third-party cover can lead to a fine of INR 2000, which likely surpasses the cost of the policy itself.

The own damage bike insurance cover offers financial coverage against damage to your own vehicle. This could be a result of an accident, natural or manmade disaster, or even theft. It is best paired with a third-party cover for comprehensive coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you still need bike insurance to drive your vehicle on the road, from a legal standpoint. Given that it is a 10-year-old vehicle, you can opt for the third-party cover only, or better yet, a comprehensive cover to take care of any potential damages, before you decide to sell it or scrap the bike.
While disc brakes enhance the safety of the bike, the insurance cost is largely based on the overall value of the bike. Given that the disc brake variant costs more, the cost of insurance for the latter is higher.
Yes, you can increase the deductibles at the time of renewal to reduce your premium. However, in the event of any damage, you will need to pay a higher amount out-of-pocket. You can also utilise the accumulated NCB discount, if any, to further reduce your premium.
Theoretically, it should, if the fault can be assigned and proved. However, it is a cumbersome process involving the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, and litigation, all of which is time-consuming and may not necessarily swing in your favour. That’s why it’s advised to use your own damage component of the comprehensive TVS Wego bike insurance policy and get the bike repaired quickly, with no hassles.
