Honda Car Insurance
Honda is synonymous with automobiles. Established in 1948 by Soichiro Honda in Japan, it has been the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer since 1959, while also being the world’s largest producer of internal combustion engines. As of 2020, Honda is the fifth largest car company in the world, with Asia, specifically India, being a key market for their growth. Honda first entered India in 1995 in a joint venture called Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. In 2012, it bought out the entire stake in the JV, and became a whollyowned subsidiary of Honda Motor Co. Ltd.

Popular Honda Car Models

1
Honda City (5th Generation)
One of the most popular sedans in the country, Honda City is the ideal vehicle for city-driving, offering premium comfort and driving pleasure at an affordable price. The newest generation of the City comes in nine trim levels, in both petrol and diesel versions, with the former also offering a seven-speed automatic transmission.
2
Honda City (4th Generation)
Despite the launch of its newer sibling, the 4th generation City is still a popular choice among Honda cars, given its aggressive pricing and feature-set. It is now being offered only in petrol-manual powertrain options with two specifications. Its highest spec car is more affordable than the 5th gen’s entry-level variant, making it attractive to those looking for a luxury sedan on a budget.
3
Honda Amaze
A car that slots below the City, the Amaze is Honda’s entry-level sedan. Priced to compete with premium hatchbacks and compact SUVs, two of the fastest growing segments in the country, the Amaze holds its own and delivers well, which makes it highly attractive to a large customer base that associates sedans with ‘success’.
4
Honda WR-V
The new facelifted, sub-4-metre SUV enters a segment that is packed with competitors but offers the refinement of Honda’s BSVI-compliant engines, and practicality as a family car. Its SUV-like positioning ensures great interior space and features. Honda has added its new infotainment system and a one-touch electric sunroom (top-spec variant) as well as ABS, dual airbags, and multi-view rear camera to its only SUV in the country.
5
Honda Jazz
The premium hatchback has made a much-awaited return to Indian shores, with petrol-only options, and an automatic transmission variant. The CVT variant comes with paddle shifters, while the vehicle also comes with a segment-first electric sunroof. It continues its tradition of extracting maximum interior space from its limited dimensions, also offering a sizeable boot. With a refined, butter-smooth engine, and driver aids, it can cruise along highways and zip around in cities with equal ease.
5
Honda Civic
The Civic is one of the most popular Honda cars on the roads, and certainly a head-turner. This premium sedan from Honda’s stable is striking in design, both in the exterior and the interior. The smooth engines and ride quality are targeted at enthusiasts, while it also ranks highly in the safety department with four-disc brakes and six airbags.

Frequently asked questions

Renewing your Honda car insurancepolicy after it has expired is super easy and simple. Log onto HDFC ERGO and purchase a new policy. When entering your previous policy details, you will have the option to renew it, albeit with an inspection of the car, depending on the time that has elapsed. If you renew it close to the expiry date, you may even be eligible to self-inspect the car and send pictures and videos of the vehicle to the insurer before it is approved. After you make the payment, you will be insured again.
The NCB is preserved upto 90 days of policy expiry, after which it is reset to zero. However, you can get an NCB reservation letter from the insurer in case you sell your car and pass the endorsement (change in policy about car ownership). This letter, i.e., the NCB, is valid for a period of three years. But if you sell your car after three months post-policy period, you will not be eligible for an NCB reservation letter.
Renewing your Honda car insurance online is even easier and simpler than buying a new one. Log onto HDFC ERGO or download the mobile app. Select the renew policy option and update car details. Select the IDV and make the payment. The entire process will take less than 3 minutes.
Taking a comprehensive Honda car insurance is almost always the recommended option. And with that we recommend the zero-depreciation cover and return to invoice cover. The zero-depreciation cover saves you the cost of paying for depreciation when repairing or replacing parts of your car after an accident. The return to invoice cover pays you the full price you had paid for the car in case of total loss or theft. Furthermore, you can consider the NCB protection add-on to file a claim without losing your NCB. And if you live in a flood-prone area, then an engine protection cover is a must.
Firstly, compare policies online to arrive at the average IDV range of your vehicle. Then compare the premium rates as well. It’s important to choose anoptimum Insured Declared Value(IDV) to premium ratio. Lowering your IDV will lower your premium, but you may end up underinsured. Similarly, a higher IDV may not be as cost-effective. IDV is the maximum payout you can receive from the insurer – in cases involving theft or total loss of the vehicle. Make use of the add-ons, as they are likely to change depending on your usage of the car. Avail an NCB protection add-on if you foresee a claim being made in the following year. Choose an engine protection add-on if you’re parking your car in the basement where water logging is a possibility.
