Effective Tips for Keeping your Bike in Top Condition Always

For youngsters and adults alike, their bike is a matter of pride for them. Bikes are used by them for their regular commute or for any long drive. Higher mileage and lower maintenance cost are few of the factors that are driving the people towards choosing bikes as their preferred mode of travel. However bike needs proper maintenance so that you can be able to use it for longer time period and can derive better performance.

Condition of Tyres: Regularly checking on the condition of tyres is an important factor in maintenance of bike. Under inflated tyres would overheat and over inflated tyres will give less than optimal grip therefore replace the tyre if there is rapid pressure loss, always change the tyres in sets.
Engine Oil: You need to regularly check and change your engine oil, not changing engine oil can have bad impact on the functioning of the engine, avoid running bike on dirty oil as it increases consumption of fuel and reduces life of the engine. Depending on type and power of bike, you can use semi synthetic or synthetic engine oil.
Air Filter: The filter can get clogged due to the dust getting settled in it. It is recommended to change the air filters on recommended time and increase the frequency of cleaning if you travel in dusty conditions.
Cleaning: When you clean your bike on regular basis, it not only helps it look clean but also aid in maintenance as you will be able to spot missing loose bolts and nuts. Not cleaning your bike on regular basis leads to development of rust.
Chain Maintenance: Driving on bike which has loose chain or one that is almost going to fall off can lead to chain coming off or may damage the casing, in event of chain getting too tight, the chain can get snapped due to excess tension.
Maintenance of Braking System: Maintenance of brakes and other factors like brake fluid, brake lines and brake pads, brake fluid has to be changed at regular intervals, brake lines have to be inspected for cracks and brake pads has to be changed if they are worn out.

Just like you have to maintain your bike for proper performance of the bike, you also need to ensure that you have valid bike insurance. As per Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and the recently passed Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019, it is mandatory for all the drivers to have valid motor insurance at all times while driving. Also bike insurance renewal has to be taken seriously and it is suggested that renewal is done before due date.
