Critical illness add-on cover inclusions

  • With this add on cover, you are entitled to receive the sum insured as lump sum for the first diagnosis of any one of the critical illnesses mentioned above, provided that the patient survives 30 days from the first diagnosis.

  • The cover can range from INR 5,00,000 to INR 20,00,000, depending on the plan and provides assistance for:

  • Care and treatment

  • Recuperation aids

  • Paying off debts, if any

  • Any lost income due to a decreasing ability to earn

  • Change in lifestyle

  • In case of accidental death of the patient, the nominee will be entitled to the sum insured as a security.

  • Any person belonging to the age group of 5 years to 65 years can be covered under this policy. Children between 5-18 years can be covered only when both the parents are also covered under the same policy.

  • In case the critical illness renders the patient permanently disabled, the policy continues without the patient having to pay any premiums.

  • This policy also provides tax benefit as one can avail INR 15000 as tax redemption under ‘Section 80D’

Critical illness add-on cover’s exclusions

Your claim will not be honored in the following cases or will be subject to certain conditions:

  • A waiting period of 90 days will apply to all claims.

  • The claim cannot be sought during situations such as war or any act of war.

  • In case the insured person commits any breach of the law with criminal intent or engages in any act of self-destruction or self-inflicted injury, the claim will be rejected.

  • Insured person’s participation or involvement in naval, military or air force operation, racing, diving, aviation, scuba diving, parachuting, hang-gliding, rock or mountain climbing, will lead to rejection of claim.

  • The claim won’t be honored in case the insured has a history of abuse of intoxicants such as drugs and alcohol etc.
