While maternity is in no way a sickness, however, because of the critical and hospital expenses involved, health insurance with maternity benefits is very important. When to buy maternity insurance?

There is a misconception that maternity insurance can be bought after you get pregnant. In such a case your pregnancy will be considered as a pre-existing condition and won’t be covered. When you buy health insurance with maternity coverage, there is a waiting period of 4 years before which you cannot avail the benefits of maternity insurance. Thus it is advised that the best time to buy health insurance policy with maternity benefits is immediately after your marriage, or maybe even before your marriage in case you are planning to start a family soon after marriage.
