Inclusions under Loss of Baggage & Personal Documents Cover in Travel Insurance

1. The insured person will get coverage for the cost of reissuance of the following documents when lost abroad:

-Passport

-Driving Licence

-Car Licence

-Ration Card

-Voter

-Identity Card

2. Loss of Baggage during the period of travel

3. Loss of essential items like clothes, medicines, etc., during the period of travel

Example: Ms A has arrived in Switzerland from Mumbai, and she has lost her passport. However, as she has a travel insurance policy with loss of baggage and personal documents cover, she will get reimbursement on expenses for reissuance of her passport.

Exclusions under Loss of Baggage & Personal Cover in Travel Insurance

  • No coverage for any loss of cash, currency notes, travellers cheques, debit/credit cards, jewelry etc.
  • Any payments made under the Baggage Delay Section are not covered.

  • Claim Form (Describe the Loss in Section D is mandatory) duly completed and signed by the Insured.
  • FIR Report to be obtained from the relevant police authority in the event of loss or theft.
  • Insured’s Indian Bank Cancelled cheque copy or Bank Account statement with A/c No, A/c holder name, Branch name and IFSC code.
  • Passport with Exit and Entry Stamp or Boarding Pass.

Yes, but your travel documents should be in your check-in baggage. If your check-in baggage having your essential documents gets delayed or lost, you will be eligible for compensation by the travel insurance company.

If you report a loss of personal documents, including a passport, after 24 hours, you will not be eligible for any compensation. Therefore, it is advisable to report the loss of your passport to the local police authority immediately after losing it.

You can place a claim for lost luggage on cashless as well on a reimbursement basis. For cashless claim you will have to intimate claim to travelclaims@hdfcergo.com and get a list of network hospitals from TPA. The documents required for cashless claim will be shared by . You will have to then download digital claim form from HDFC ERGO website. Finally, you will have to send the filled up form along with all documents to medical.services@allianz.com.

The insured person will get coverage for the cost of reissuance of various important documents when lost abroad. It includes passport, driving license, ration card, voter and identity card. Apart from this, reimbursement for loss of essential items like clothes, medicines, etc., during the period of travel will also be given.
