Inclusions under Baggage Delay Cover in Travel Insurance

The insured person gets reimbursement of expenses made, to purchase essential items like medicines, toiletries, clothes, etc.

Example: Mr ABC has travelled to Istanbul, Turkey from Delhi, India, and his luggage having his necessary medicines has yet not reached baggage check-in. Due to this delay, he must purchase those medicines, as he cannot skip them. As Mr ABC had a travel insurance policy with baggage delay cover, he will get reimbursement for purchasing medicines.

  • Expenses incurred due to delayed baggage on chartered flights or the return journey are not covered under baggage delay cover.
  • If the common carrier will provide any compensation, the coverage for expenses incurred due to luggage delay will not be covered.
  • You will not get coverage for baggage delay cover if reimbursement of expenses is already done under the baggage loss section.

Documents You Need to Claim Baggage Delay Compensation

    For delay of checked-in baggage claim, you need to submit the following documents:

  • Claim form duly completed and signed by the Insured. (Describe the loss in Section D with mentioned total delay hours and baggage received to date and time is mandatory).
  • Original Property Irregularity Report (PIR) mentioning the date and time of loss.
  • Insured’s Indian bank cancelled cheque copy or bank account statement with A/c No, A/c holder name, Branch name and IFSC code
  • Passport with Exit and Entry Stamp or Boarding Pass.
