Recently, there has been an increase in cases of dengue and chikungunya across the country. Experts say that the lack of proper civic planning and the hot summer months can both be reasons for the increase in numbers. Health authorities nationwide are taking every necessary step to control the mosquito menace and curb the spread of seasonal diseases as winter approaches. In Jaipur, proper spraying of mosquito repellent in the affected areas, where the number of cases of malaria and dengue was on the rise, has seen the graph decline. The Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporations in India have recorded a significant increase in vector-borne diseases, such as dengue, chikungunya, and malaria, in October. Both civic bodies are trying to curb the menace and develop solutions to reduce the spread of vector-borne and seasonal diseases. The upcoming winter months can be particularly challenging as they take a toll on the immunity of the masses, and thus, there is an increase in the cases of flu and influenza.
