Common Monsoon Diseases and How to Prevent those?

The rainy season in India is associated with a lot of things – romance, nostalgia and, of course, enjoying a hot cup of tea with some pakodas. 1. Cold and flu:

The sudden change in temperature during rainy season makes the body prone to bacterial and viral diseases. Cold and flu is one of the most common forms of viral infections. And in order to protect yourself, you should consume highly nutritious foods to increase immunity. With this the body can fight germs by producing antibodies against the released toxins.

One of the best way to prevent yourself from getting viral fever is by avoiding getting drenched in the rains. But, in case you do get it, seek medical help right away. 2. Malaria:

3. Dengue:

4. Cholera:

This water-borne infection is caused by numerous bacteria strains called Vibrio cholera. Cholera infects the gastrointestinal tract causing severe dehydration and diarrhoea.

• Prevention:

Drink boiled or purified water to keep the germs at bay. Be mindful of your personal hygiene.

5. Typhoid:

Typhoid is a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella typhi and is a result of contaminated food and water.

• Prevention:

Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation and drink boiled or purified water. Also, try and avoid eating out and even if eating, then, be sure that the restaurant maintains 100 per cent cleanliness and hygiene while preparing food.

6. Hepatitis A:

This infection mainly affects the liver and is caused by contaminated food and water. Some common Hepatitis A symptoms include fever, vomiting, rash, etc.

• Prevention:

Maintaining proper hygiene is the key to avoid this disease. Also, seek immediate medical help in case you feel you have the symptoms.
