Yes. Your health insurance policies with HDFC ERGO covers hospitalisation expenses to Corona Virus (COVID-19). We will pay the below medical expenses for hospitalization during the policy period for treatment of COVID-19:
In the event you are admitted to a hospital for over 24 hours, your medical bills would be covered by us. We would take care of:
  • Stay Charges (Isolation Room / ICU)
  • Nursing charges
  • Treating Doctor Visit Charges
  • Investigations (Labs/Radiological)
  • Oxygen / Mechanical Ventilation Charges (if required)
  • Blood / Plasma Charges (if required)
  • Physiotherapy (if required)
  • Pharmacy (except non-medicals/consumables)
  • PPE Kit charges (as per government guidelines)
Yes, you can file a cashless claim at any of our cashless networks. Please contact the TPA desk / Cashless claim desk at the hospital for assistance.

In 2020, when COVID-19 cases were increasing in the nation, quality healthcare and prompt medical treatment was the need of the hour. Hence, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) had announced the launch of Corona Kavach Policy and made it mandatory for all General and Standalone health insurance companies in India to offer this policy to its customers. This policy aims at covering hospitalisation, pre-post hospitalisation, home care treatment expenses and AYUSH treatment in case anyone is tested positive of Covid-19 infection. It is a standard health insurance plan designed to cover medical expenses arising due to Coronavirus Pandemic. With this standard health insurance plan for Coronavirus you don’t have to pay for the medical bills and get access to quality medical treatments. No, home care treatment is not covered in our Health policies, except for Corona Kavach policies. You can only file a claim for medical treatment undertaken at a hospital or nursing home. The treatment should be on the advice of and be actively managed by a qualified doctor.
No. If you already have a health insurance plan, you don't have to pay any extra premium for the coverage of COVID-19.
Yes, the expenses related to AYUSH treatment for COVID-19 are covered. However, it is subject to the government’s approved methods of treatment.
The purpose of a quarantine is to restrict the movement of individuals who may have been exposed to the virus but don't have a confirmed diagnosis. Therefore the expenses related to home quarantine will not be covered.
The testing charges will only be covered in case of hospitalization for each insured member(s) covered under the policy.
No. You can only make a claim if a medical practitioner recommends hospitalization for COVID-19 treatment.
Yes, vaccination charges for up to 2 doses for each insured member over 60 years are covered in all our health policies.
