The central Government on 13th March announced a new scheme to promote sale of electric two and three wheelers. According to Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey, Rs 500 crore is being allocated for the Electric Mobility
Promotion Scheme (EMPS), 2024. This scheme is valid for four months from April 1 onwards. We are committed to the growth of electric vehicles in the country and will keep encouraging their sales,” he said while announcing
the scheme.

S1 Air, and S1X+ models while Ather Energy reduced the price of its 450S model by Rs 20,000.

has cut-down the price of its entry-level scooter by ₹25,000, and now its price is equivalent to Honda Activa.

There is an increase in electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws) sales in India in the current financial year despite the reduction in FAME subsidies. As per the Ministry of Heavy Industries, 734,760 e-2Ws units have been sold in the financial
year 2023-24 up to February 6, 2024, compared to 728,271 units in the previous financial year 2022-23. The government's initiatives like Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, aim to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles
(EVs) and support the transition to a greener economy. Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar highlighted these efforts during a parliamentary session.

Electric Two Wheeler (E2W) registration went up by 26% year-on-year (YOY) at 81,344 units in the first month of this year as against 64,696 units in January 2023, according to the data on the Vahan website. Analyst believes that
with continued government support like the PLI scheme coupled with innovative products, the industry is set to reach 8.5 lakh units in FY 2023-24. Also, E2W sales continue to rise in metro cities, as people are increasingly
becoming environment-conscious and are discerning the economic benefits of converting to electric vehicles.
Ola, the ride-hailing platform, has launched e-bike services in Delhi and Hyderabad. The company has also announced the prices for the e-bike services. As per the official statement, Ola e-bike fares range from ₹25 for 5 km, ₹50
for 10 km, to ₹75 for 15 km. Besides Delhi and Hyderabad, Ola also plans to start an e-bike service in Bengaluru. Ola has set up 200 charging stations in Bengaluru to service its e-bike fleet.
Bikers Without Helmets to Face Enforcement Drive During Road Safety Month From Jan 15
Maharashtra state will have special enforcement drives for helmet compliance by two-wheeler riders during Road Safety Month from January 15 to February 14. There will also be checks on speeding, lane cutting and other offences
on state and national highways and Expressways. At the same time, volunteers will conduct road safety awareness campaigns targeting colleges, schools, marketplaces, and public spaces, said a senior official from the transport
commissioner's office, as reported by TOI.

The state transport department is gearing up to include a bike service in its Yatri Sathi taxi app, offering commuters a cost-effective option. An official said that adding bike service to a cab-hailing app next year was to streamline
the travel experience. While still in the early stages of planning, the initiative aims to allow people to book bikes, available within a 3km radius, connecting to key locations in Kolkata and to Howrah station, Sealdah station
and the airport.
Vehicle Sales Reaches a Record High Milestone Sales in November
Vehicle retail sales in November 2023 reached a record-high milestone of 28.54 lakh units, surpassing the previous record set in March 2020, during the industry's transition from BS-4 to BS-6 emission norms when 25.69 lakh vehicles
were sold. This came on the back of massive two-wheeler sales to the tune of 22.47 lakh units, recording a 49% MoM growth from 15.07 lakh units in October and 21% YoY growth from 18.47 lakh units in the same period last year.
