A test mule of the Himalayan Electric was recently spotted at a hotel in Ladakh. The production-ready version shows substantial improvements from the Him-E concept presented at EICMA 2023 in Milan.
The electric Himalayan features major structural changes, utilising aluminium construction throughout instead of the standard tube trellis frame. The custom aluminium swingarm, mainframe, and subframe demonstrate Royal Enfield’s commitment to weight optimisation for the electric platform.
The bike’s premium SM Pro Platinum Enduro spoked wheels are made from billet aluminium, wrapped in Bridgestone Battlax Adventurecross knobby tyres. The suspension setup features fully adjustable upside-down forks and an Ohlins mono shock at the rear, with Nissin brake callipers handling stopping power.
Himalayan Electric retains design cues from the Him-E concept, particularly in the fuel tank style. LED projector lamps and integrated turn signals provide stylish lighting. A prominent 7-inch ECUMaster instrument panel is mounted in a tower-style configuration on the handlebars.
The bike’s performance specifications remain undisclosed, although Royal Enfield suggests that the electric version will offer similar performance to the standard Himalayan 450. The launch timeline remains unclear as development continues.
