Germany Allows Visa Free Airport Transit For Indians

Germany Allows Visa-Free Airport Transit for Indians

Germany has introduced a new rule that makes travel easier for Indians who are only transiting through the country. Earlier, Indian travellers had to apply for a separate airport transit visa, even if they were just switching flights in Germany. Now, this requirement has been removed.

If you are flying through major German airports, such as Frankfurt, Munich, or Berlin, on your way to another destination and you stay inside the airport’s international transit area, you no longer need any additional visa. You simply take your connecting flight within the allowed time.

This announcement was made during German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to India. Both countries also discussed deeper cooperation in areas like trade, defence, technology, and education. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said this step will make international travel smoother for Indian passengers and help strengthen ties between the two nations.
