In anticipation of the 15th China Tourism Day on May 19, 2025, China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism has initiated a robust campaign to rejuvenate inbound tourism and fortify global travel partnerships. Running until May 31, the campaign encompasses over 6,000 promotional measures, including more than 1 billion yuan (approximately $138 million) in subsidies provided by over 60 partners, such as Meituan and Alipay.
The campaign aims to diversify tourism offerings, enhance infrastructure, and showcase China’s rich cultural heritage. By integrating digital platforms, the initiative aligns with China’s broader digital economy goals, offering tech-driven tourism services and solutions. This strategic move comes as China seeks to rebound from the pandemic’s impact on tourism, positioning itself as a premier global destination. The campaign is expected to stimulate both regional and international collaboration, driving sustainable tourism growth and reinforcing China’s commitment to cultural exchange and global connectivity.
