In a significant expansion beyond home rentals, Airbnb has launched new “Services” and “Experiences” features within its app. Users can now book a variety of offerings—including personal chefs, hair stylists, spa treatments, and cultural activities—without needing to reserve accommodations. These services are available in over 100 cities across eight countries, aiming to provide travelers with authentic local experiences and convenience. The “Experiences” category encompasses activities like museum tours, cooking classes, and outdoor adventures, while “Services” focus on in-home offerings such as massages and personal training sessions. This strategic move positions Airbnb to compete more directly with platforms like TripAdvisor and Yelp, transforming it into a holistic travel and lifestyle platform. Additionally, Airbnb plans to introduce social features to foster community among users. CEO Brian Chesky emphasized that this evolution reflects Airbnb’s commitment to facilitating meaningful connections and enriching travel experiences beyond just providing places to stay.
