In less than four years since its October 2021 introduction, Tata Motors' compact SUV Punch has sold over 6 lakh units in India, marking a historic milestone. As a result of this accomplishment, the Punch is now among Tata's most popular and successful models.
By becoming India's best-selling car in 2024, the Punch created automotive history and proved to be a popular choice for both first-time and budget-conscious buyers. In the fiercely competitive sub-compact SUV market, the model held a commanding 38% market share and contributed an outstanding 36% of Tata's total passenger vehicle sales in FY2025.
With a sales distribution of 24% from tier-1 cities, 42% from tier-2 cities, and 34% from tier-3 locales, the vehicle's success is evident across all regions and city tiers. The Hyundai Exter, which debuted in July 2023 and sold 1.54 lakh units by April 2025, is one competitor that the Punch faces, but it maintains its top spot because to its competitive pricing and useful design.
