Skoda Auto has officially announced the launch of the Octavia RS in India later this year, targeting a release around the upcoming festive season. The high-performance car will be brought as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). It will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 265 HP. The model shares its drivetrain with the latest Volkswagen Golf GTI.
The Octavia RS release decision comes amid great excitement from Indian automobile fans, many of whom stay loyal to the Octavia name. The previous model RS 245 was limited to just 200 units in India and all were sold out quickly despite their high price, demonstrating the market's appetite for such performance-oriented cars.
Owing to the CBU import status, the new Octavia RS is likely to carry a luxury price tag of above ₹50 lakhs (ex-showroom), with only a limited number of units being offered, as Skoda takes a controlled approach to this launch.
