The Maharashtra government on 31st July, 2024 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Toyota Kirloskar to establish a Greenfield manufacturing facility at Auric City in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar with an investment of Rs 20,000 crore. The electric plant is expected to manufacture 4,00,000 vehicles annually. Chief Minister (CM) Eknath Shinde stated that this Toyota Project will revolutionise India’s electric car manufacturing industry.
Industries Minister Uday Samant announced that the project will create a total of 16,000 jobs. Approximately 850 acres of land have been allocated at Auric City for this project. He also mentioned that before the code of conduct is implemented the state industries department will release a white paper on industrial investment in the state.
The newly appointed Consul General of Japan, Yagi Koji, visited the CM residence on Wednesday. Shinde urged Japan to increase investment in the state’s industrial and infrastructure sectors. He further assured Koji that a special industrial park would be developed at Supe in Pune district for Japanese companies.
