This helps reduce stress and thereby improve your mental health. Also, putting time into any form of exercise can keep your mind engaged and minimize negative thoughts.

Also, ensure that you have good pair of running shoes to avoid any injury in the long run. It is advisable to run three to four times a week. At the same time, on non-running days, you can do bodyweight squats, lunges, planks, split jump, glute bridge and Bulgarian split squat exercises to increase muscular strength of your hamstrings quadriceps and core that will help improve your running.

This is a form of dance workout, where you will have to do interval training, alternating fast and slow rhythms that help improve cardiovascular fitness. The music played in the Zumba session will make you feel as if you are present on the dance floor of any club. Zumba help burn a tremendous amount of calories. As per the study published in the National Institute of Health in 2012, a standard Zumba class of 39 minutes burned an average of 9.5 calories per minute. This adds up to 369 calories in total throughout the class. The American Council on Exercise advises that individuals burn 300 calories per workout to boost weight loss and maintain a fit body. Thus, Zumba can be a perfect alternative to a monotonous gym workout.

4. Skipping Ropes -

When you skip rope, it also works on your abdominal muscles. To enhance your workout, you can also use a weighted rope for skipping. Along with skipping, you can incorporate squats, lunges, push-ups and planks to get the perfect toned up body.

This is the best alternative to a gym workout. Cycling keeps your body fit and boosts the production of endorphins, which is a feel-good hormone. In addition, cycling brings joy as you could use your bicycle to reach out to your favourite beautiful location. With regular practice, you should aim to increase your cycling pace. Riding a bicycle at a higher pace makes the body rely on the anaerobic metabolism system.
