How To Remove Bird Poop Stains From Your Car?

If you own a car, but do not have indoor parking, you must have encountered that a lot of dirt and dust settles on your car over the course of a day, but what is infuriating is that birds poop all over it. This is also a very common problem if you park your car under a tree to protect it from direct sunlight. While cleaning the whole car on a daily basis might not be possible for everyone, it is extremely important to clean bird poop from the car the moment you notice it. If you are unlucky, not cleaning the poop may cause damages that may not be covered in your car insurance policy.

Bird poop is a big problem for cars

There are a number of risks and dangers associated with bird poop accumulating on the car.

First and most visible of course, is it makes your car look ugly and dirty. Imagine spending hundreds of rupees to get the car touched up and detailed and a bird relieves itself on the car! The agony is just unbearable.

Then, there is the fact that bird poop is full of uric acid, which corrodes and damages the car paint, exposing the car body to further damage.

Moreover, most modern cars come with advanced optical and other sensors. If bird poop accumulates on them, these sensors will malfunction or even get damaged. That is inviting unwanted expenses on your pocket.

How to properly clean bird poop?

There is not much of math and science involved in proper cleaning of bird poop.

First things first, clean it the instant you notice it. If it is still wet, bird poop will come off when you wipe it with a soft dry cloth.

If the bird poop has dried on the car, you can clean it using a wet soft cloth. It is advised to be gentle in the cleaning process because vigorous cleaning will create micro-scratches on the car, which can cause chipped paint in the long run.

Discard the cloth after cleaning the bird poop because retaining it will make your car smell bad.

Oh no! That bird poop left stains on the car

If you were too late and the poop has dried off, there is a risk that your car paint will be stained after you have cleaned it off. Do not worry, just grab a bottle of club soda, and pour some of it on the stain. Soda will break the acidic remains of the bird droppings, which will then fade away.

For particularly deep stains, WD-40 or baking soda can also be used. Multiple washes with car shampoo followed by detailing spray can also help remove poop stains.

While dealing with bird poop on your car may seem like an annoying and inevitable part of being a car owner, it's crucial to recognize the potential risks it poses to your vehicle. Just as you prioritize cleaning and protecting your car from environmental elements, it's equally important to safeguard your investment through comprehensive car insurance. While basic third party insurance covers damages caused to third parties, comprehensive car insurance protects your vehicle against various risks, including damages from natural elements.
