How Mahindra’s New EV Lineup Is Taking Over India’s eSUV Market?

Mahindra is one of the key players in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) industry. Closing calendar year 2025 with overall 5,92,771 units sold, Mahindra had a passenger vehicle market share of 13.25% in India. Their SUV portfolio was the main driver behind the growth, with a significant contribution of around 7% of total sales by the newly added BE 6 and XEV 9e.

Alongside offering iconic and feature-packed ICE cars, Mahindra is aggressively expanding its electric vehicle portfolio in India. By taking on the rising SUV demand and implementing future-focused electric mobility solutions, Mahindra is all set to take the Indian EV segment by storm.

The latest EVs from Mahindra are categorised into two lineups, namely the XUV/XEV and BE (Born Electric). Here are the current offerings:

1. Mahindra 3XO EV:

The Mahindra 3XO EV is available in 2 variants, the AX5 and AX7L. It packs a 39.4 kWh battery, with real world range of up to 285 km, 110 kW of power, 310 Nm of torque and 0-100km/h in 8.3 seconds. It was launched earlier this year, with an estimated start of delivery in late February.

2. Mahindra XUV 400 EV:

3. Mahindra XEV 9e:

The XEV 9e is one of the two flagship electric origin SUVs launched by Mahindra at the end of 2024. It is built on the INGLO architecture and powered by MAIA. 4. Mahindra BE 6:

Mahindra had a great start to the year, with 63,510 units sold in January. Compared to the 50,659 units sold in January 2025, it is a 25.37% Year-on-Year (YoY) growth. While the iconic ICE SUV, the Scorpio / Scorpio N, remains the best-seller, the EV lineup has contributed positively to the chart. The XUV 3XO / EV has a combined sales of 8,845, which is a 4.63% YoY growth.

The newly launched XEV 9s sold 612 units, while the XEV 9e and BE 6 sold 1,945 units and 1,028 units, fetching 71.06% and 46.86% YoY growth, respectively. Although the XUV 400 sold 146 units, which is a 49.31% YoY decline, it shows a 147.46% Month-on-Month (MoM) growth. Consumers are steadily moving towards the newer Mahindra eSUV lineup.

These are some of the key goals Mahindra is working on to achieve in the near future:

3. Mahindra expects to expand its monthly ICE capacity by 3,000-5,000 units by Aug-Sept of FY 2027 across Nashik and Chakan. Additionally, they want to add 3,000-4,000 units more for the BEV range through the XEV 9s. This will up the combined EV and ICE monthly capacity by 6,000-7,000 units.
4. Mahindra is actively working on its 180 kW EV charging network development. The company has established a goal to set up 250 charging stations, creating more than 1,000 points of charging by the end of 2027.
