Severe monsoon rain has hit Delhi and the surrounding region, leading to waterlogged roads, traffic jams, and flight delays. Thunderstorms and strong winds made runway operations difficult at Indira Gandhi International Airport, where at least six flights had to be diverted to other cities like Jaipur and Lucknow.
The airport issued a travel advisory asking passengers to use the Metro and check their flight status before heading out. Airlines like IndiGo and SpiceJet also asked passengers to expect delays or changes. Fallen trees and power cuts were reported in several areas, adding to the chaos.
Weather experts say this early and intense storm could be part of a changing climate pattern. With more rain expected in the coming days, travelers are being told to plan, allow extra time, and use safer transport options wherever possible.
