WhatsApp Introduces ‘Advanced Chat Privacy’ to Enhance User Control

In a significant move to bolster user privacy, WhatsApp has launched the “Advanced Chat Privacy” feature. This new setting allows users to restrict others from exporting chat histories, automatically downloading shared media, and utilizing messages for AI-driven features like Meta AI. Designed with sensitive group conversations in mind, it ensures that discussions remain confined within the app, minimizing the risk of unintended data sharing.

While the feature curtails several avenues of data export, it’s noteworthy that it doesn’t currently prevent screenshots or manual media downloads. WhatsApp acknowledges this limitation and has indicated plans to introduce additional protections in future updates. To activate “Advanced Chat Privacy,” users can navigate to a chat’s settings and toggle the feature on. This rollout underscores WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to provide users with enhanced control over their digital interactions, reinforcing its position in the competitive messaging app landscape.
