Bohemia and Cannabia, two of the world’s largest dark web markets, were taken down in a joint operation by police forces from the Netherlands, Ireland, the UK, and the U.S. These platforms, responsible for illegal goods, drug sales, and cybercrime services, handled around 67,000 monthly transactions, with estimated revenues reaching €12 million in September 2023 alone. The investigation, which began in 2022, identified key administrators, resulting in two arrests and the seizure of cryptocurrency worth €8 million. Authorities emphasized that the dark web’s anonymity is not foolproof, with this operation marking another blow to illegal marketplaces globally.
