Google Brings AI to Your Device with New Private Assistant

Google has officially rolled out Gemini Nano, its new on-device AI model designed to run directly on Android 14 smartphones without relying on cloud processing. Debuting on the Pixel 8 Pro, Gemini Nano powers features like smart replies, summarisation, and text generation, all processed locally for enhanced privacy and reduced latency. This marks a significant shift in Google’s AI strategy, placing emphasis on private, fast, and energy-efficient experiences. Developers can also integrate Gemini Nano into apps using the updated AICore system app. By processing data on the device itself, Google addresses growing concerns about AI and user privacy while delivering seamless, intelligent interactions even without an internet connection. The move aligns with the broader trend toward edge AI, enabling smarter smartphones without compromising personal data.
