Several London hospitals were forced to cancel operations and turn patients away following a ransomware attack on Synnovis, which supplies pathology laboratory services. The attack disrupted all Synnovis IT systems, significantly impacting services at King’s College, Guy’s, and St Thomas’ hospitals. Blood transfusions and other critical services were particularly affected. NHS England's London region is working with the National Cyber Security Centre to understand the incident's full impact. Ransomware attacks, which paralyze computer systems until a ransom is paid, remain a major cyber threat, having previously disrupted Britain’s health system in 2017. The cyberattack has caused considerable inconvenience, with patients like Oliver Dowson experiencing delays and uncertainty regarding their medical treatments.
