Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx is making waves—not just for its stylish looks but for how safe it feels on the road. In a time when safety is just as important as design, buyers are paying closer attention to crash test ratings. Crash tests are the best indicators of vehicle safety and should be combined with preventative measures like car insurance to ensure complete protection while on the road.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx recently underwent crash testing by Japan NCAP and scored an impressive 4-star rating. However, it's important to note that this rating is for a version of the Fronx exported to Japan and equipped with advanced safety features not available in the Indian version.
Here are some notable performance metrics:
163.75 out of 193.8 points (84%)
79.42 out of 85.8 points (92%)
76.33 out of 100 points (76%)
8/8 points (100%)
In the full-wrap frontal crash test at 50 kmph, the Fronx scored a Level 5 rating, showing strong cabin protection. In the offset frontal test, the car’s structure held up well, earning 21.08 out of 24 points. However, it did receive a penalty for the damage it could inflict on another vehicle, scoring -2.12 out of 5.
The side impact test also earned it a Level 5 rating thanks to effective curtain airbag deployment. In rear-end collision simulations, it scored Level 4 for protecting both the driver and co-driver from whiplash injuries.
The Fronx managed a Level 3 for pedestrian head protection and a full Level 5 for leg protection. It performed well in ADAS tests too—getting full marks in the autonomous emergency braking and lane departure prevention systems. However, it only managed a Level 3 in the AEB intersection test and Level 4 for headlights and pedal misapplication prevention.
While the exported Fronx packs advanced features like Level-2 ADAS and AWD, the Indian version currently lacks these upgrades. It still includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, and a 360-degree camera. Although not rated by Global NCAP yet, Maruti claims improved safety over past models.
The Fronx shows solid safety results in Japan NCAP tests, especially for its ADAS and structural strength. While the Indian version isn’t yet tested by Global NCAP, it includes essential features for daily protection. Pairing this model with comprehensive car insurance ensures safer journeys and stronger financial protection on Indian roads.
