The Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) released its first list, which makes more than 75% of tenement holders eligible to qualify for new homes under the large-scale slum redevelopment project. It states that all genuine Dharavi residents who settled before January 1st, 2000, will qualify for a 350 sq. ft flat.
These flats will be provided within the Dharavi area, and qualified residents can be part of this resettlement unless they fail to provide valid documents. As for Dharavi residents who settled in the area between January 1st, 2000, and January 1st, 2011, they may receive a 300 sq. ft flat but at alternative locations outside of the Dharavi area. A total of 505 households have been identified under the first list, and among them, more than 75% of tenement holders have been deemed eligible for new home units under this ambitious, large-scale slum redevelopment project.
Out of the total 505 tenements, 229 have been found eligible for new flats, while 70 tenements are currently in the process of additional document verification. As for the remaining ones, 31 tenements have yet to submit the necessary documents, 38 are amenity structures, and 137 are pending BMC verification.
