XFG, a subvariant of Omicron, is nicknamed Stratus. It belongs to the recombinant variant category, indicating a person could be infected with two different COVID strains simultaneously. According to recent data, the virus has been quickly spreading in almost 38 countries, including developed nations. However, the WHO has maintained that this variant poses a low risk to global health.
According to medical experts, the Stratus variant is not severe, but it exhibits different behaviour compared to other Omicron variants. The symptoms are quite mild in people who are already vaccinated. One symptom that’s unique to this variant is the voice hoarseness, or people develop a cracking, gruff voice.
Although there is no major cause for concern or panic at this time, people are expected to follow the recommended safety protocols and maintain properly ventilated living spaces to prevent infections.
