treat toothache

Toothache can be quite painful, but there are a few natural ways that you can manage it at home to get rid of the pain. From ingredients that are readily available in the kitchen to herbs found in the garden, these natural remedies can be beneficial in alleviating pain. Let’s look at some solutions that you can easily try at home.

Tips to ease tooth pain

Here are a few tips on how to treat toothache at home:

1. Raw garlic

Garlic has several health advantages, including antibacterial properties. It alleviates pain if the tooth ache is caused by a bacterial infection. Chew a small piece of garlic or crush it and apply the paste to the affected area.

2. Rinse with salt water

Salt acts as a natural disinfectant and loosens debris or food stuck between teeth. Make a solution by adding half a teaspoon of salt and mixing it in a glass of lukewarm water. Use this solution as a mouthwash.

3. Vanilla extract

The antioxidant properties of vanilla extract can help combat toothache as the alcohol in it numbs the pain. Dab vanilla extract on a cotton swab or your finger and apply it to the affected area a few times daily.

4. Hydrogen Peroxide rinse

This is a strong disinfectant that can lessen toothache, fight inflammation, cure bleeding gums, and decrease plaque. Dilute 3% hydrogen peroxide with 3 parts water and use the solution as a mouthwash.

5. Ice pack

If you are experiencing toothache because of physical injury then applying ice pack is a good way to get relief from the pain. It can also help reduce facial swelling and inflammation. Wrap ice cubes in a towel and apply to the affected area for around 20 minutes. You can do this few times a day.

6. Peppermint tea bags

This is an effective home remedy to soothe sensitive gums and alleviate pain. Allow the tea bag to cool, and apply it to the affected region in the mouth. Ensure the tea bag is slightly warm. You can place the tea bag in freezer for 2 minutes, before using it.
