Paba Recipe for Children: A Nutritious Ladakhi Delight

Ingredients Required

• 200 grams of yoches or Paba flour (a mix of whole wheat or roasted barley flour and dried peas)

• 500 ml of water

• Salt to taste

• Caraway seeds

Steps to Make Paba

1. Dry roast the Paba flour and set it aside.

2. Take a huge vessel and fill it with water.

3. Add salt and turn on the flame.

4. Wait till the water starts to boil.

5. Add Paba flour gradually to the boiling water on a medium flame.

6. Stir continuously with a wooden spatula and allow it to cook on low to medium flame.

7. Add caraway seeds.

8. Mix until the flour becomes dough-like, and turn off the flame.

9. Serve Paba Ladakhi food with Tangtur or Zathuk. Tangtur contains buttermilk and green veggies, and Zathuk is a soup made with nettles. Some also enjoy Paba with Tsamik, a chutney made of radish, mint, or coriander.
