Traditional policies such as Contractor’s All Risk (CAR) do not cover structural defects. HDFC ERGO’s Inherent Defects Insurance policy provides protection against the cost of repairing, restoring or strengthening of the insured building if suffers a damage caused by inherent structural defects.

For the purpose of this insurance, inherent structural defect is a defect which existed prior to the date of handing over of the property by the builder to the owners, but remained undiscovered. It includes defects in design, workmanship and any material defect.
