Summary
The Tata Curvv receives a price reduction following GST 2.0 reforms, effective September 22, 2025. Buyers save INR 34,000 to INR 67,000 across petrol and diesel variants. The entry-level petrol model now costs approximately INR 10.95 lakh on-road in New Delhi, while the diesel starts at INR 13.28 lakh. The final cost may differ based on the respective regions' road tax and car insurance costs. The government simplified the tax structure by replacing 28% GST plus 17% or more cess with a flat 40% GST slab for luxury vehicles. Tata Motors passed the complete benefit to customers without retaining a profit margin. All pending bookings made before the effective date receive the revised pricing.

The Government of India introduced the GST 2.0 reforms to simplify the automotive tax structure. Under the old system, SUVs longer than 4 metres or with bigger engines were subjected to 28% GST plus a compensation cess. This pushed the tax burden to 45% - 50% on the ex-showroom price. The new system removes the cess, while such vehicles will attract a uniform 40% GST.
These 5 to 10% reductions directly lower the manufacturing costs passed on to the consumers.
Furthermore, Tata Motors stated that the company wouldn't retain the reduction as extra profits and would transfer the complete benefit to its customers. This decision makes the Tata Curvv on-road price more attractive in the mid-size SUV category.
The revised GST rates came into effect on September 22, 2025. All new bookings and purchases made on or after this date reflect the new pricing.
For existing customers who booked the Curvv before September 22, Tata Motors will honour the lower prices on pending deliveries as per their fair and transparent policy.
Final Thoughts
The reduced GST has now made the Tata Curvv compete with segment rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Depending on the variant, you can save up to INR 67,000. However, it is important to remember that the on-road price includes several components, like road tax and comprehensive insurance costs. They are handled at the state level and by insurers, so the final cost will still vary based on your location. Factor in all charges to understand your true ownership expenses before deciding.
Yes, the company can indirectly revise the on-road price. For instance, while the GST lowers the tax costs, Tata Motors can still adjust the ex-showroom prices due to input costs or market conditions. This may affect the final on-road price.
Yes. Insurance premiums decrease when the vehicle’s IDV (insured declared value) drops. Since the Tata Curvv now has a lower ex-showroom price, your own-damage (OD) premium will be reduced accordingly. However, the third party car insurance premium rate will remain the same according to the IRDAI guidelines.
