In order to get a fancy number plate in Uttar Pradesh for your car, you have to register online and participate in an e-auction via the MoRTH website. The procedure is explained below;
The first thing you need to do is visit the official website of Parivahan Sewa portal and guide to the section “Fancy Number Booking” under the section “Online Services”. After that, new users will need to register by selecting their state and providing their name, email and phone number. If you are an existing user, you can log in with your ID along with your password.
Following the signing in, you will need to click on the e-auction process if you want to apply for a fancy number. Then, simply look for the fancy number of your choice, select it and proceed by clicking on “Go To Registration”.
Provide the required details, such as the owner's name, address, mobile number, etc., to register as a bidder, pay the requisite booking fee and collect the receipt alongside the UAN.
After the registration window closes, the live bidding window for the e-auction will open up for the subsequent two days. Participate in it and bid for your selected fancy number.
Upon completion of the auction, the results will be declared. Unsuccessful bidders will be refunded, while successful bidders can pay the balance to have their allotment letter for their fancy number generated.
Note that depending on the category, demand and location, the cost of fancy numbers can vary. For example, the 0888 number plate price is not the same as the 0008 car number price in Uttar Pradesh as they are of two different categories. To check the exact availability of fancy number plates in the state of Uttar Pradesh, users first need to visit the portal of Fancy Number Booking, through the official Parivahan Sewa website. After that, they can go to the “Search by Number” tab and enter the numeric portion of the fancy number they want alongside the details like the state and RTO names. Finally, with a swift fillup of the captcha and a click on the “Check Availability” button, it will list the series-wise available choice numbers.
Following the 3-day registration window, the e-auction process opens up for the next two days, i.e., the 4th and 5th day. You can enter the e-auction after successfully registering with MoRTH and paying the registration & reserve fee for the fancy number of your choice. Here is the process explained;
Log in to your account on the official portal.
Navigate to the “Bidding Process” under the “Auction Services” tab and choose the UAN for the fancy number you booked before.
Increase or decrease the bid (in multiples of INR 500, INR 1000 and such) by using the “Up” & “Down” buttons and submit the new bid by tapping the “Submit” button.
Following the completion of the auction, an immediate alert will be sent to the successful bidders. After this, all you need to do is pay the balance amount online and collect the payment receipt alongside the fancy number allotment letter.
The cost of fancy numbers in the state of Uttar Pradesh varies mainly depending on the number category and demand. For instance, the 0888 number plate price and the 0008 car number price in UP are different as the former falls under the semi-fancy category while the latter falls under the single-digit category.
If it falls under the fancy number category and is available for auction, you can get it in Uttar Pradesh. For example, if your birth year is 2002, you can look for 2002 fancy numbers available on the portal.
