Squats is an excellent workout that can give you an aesthetic build and enhance your core strength. Often referred as the ‘King of leg-workout’, this exercise is known to strengthen your lower limbs and help make your daily activities easier to perform. Squats can be done with many variations, like using a dumbbell, a bench press or simple squatting. However, it is important to follow proper techniques while doing this workout. This article will instruct you on how to perform this exercise correctly.

Steps to Do Squats

Start with a basic bodyweight squat as it is a foundational move. This exercise targets various muscle groups such as quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves, shoulders, hips, and biceps. Your quads, glutes, and hamstrings will do the major work here, while your core will work to stabilize you throughout. To get moving:

• Stand with feet slightly wider than your hips.

• Maintain a puffed-up chest and engage your core throughout the movement.

• Hinge at your hips, lowering into a squat with knees aligned with your toes.

• Ensure your thighs reach parallel or lower, and your elbows go between your knees at the bottom.

• Drive upward, pushing through your heels, and tighten your glutes at the top.

• Repeat the movement for a complete squat routine.

You should be able to complete 3 sets of 15 reps with ease before adding weight.
