What’s included?

Hospitalisation expenses

We cover emergency and planned hospitalization for medical expenses. All expenses such as ICU, diagnosis, medicine, room rent and nursing costs remain covered.

Before Hospitalisation cover

We provide full coverage of expenses towards doctor consultations, check-ups and prescriptions that happen 60 days prior to hospitalisation.

Post Hospitalisation cover

After getting discharged from the hospital get full coverage of expenses incurred on doctor consultations, rehabilitation charges etc. till 180 days.

Road Ambulance Cover

Transfer yourself from home to hospital, in between hospitals, and from hospital to home in an ambulance is covered.

Day Care Procedures

Even if your hospitalization lasted for just one day and you get discharged within 24 hours we get you covered for 586 day care procedures seamlessly.

AYUSH Benefits (Non-Allopathic)

If you or your family member wishes to undertake any sort of alternative treatment other than allopath then you can go for of Ayurveda, Unnani, Sidha and Homeopathy treatment. We cover hospitalization expenses for alternative treatment.

Mental Healthcare

If any of the insured members suffer from mental illness, the expenses for hospitalization get covered.

Sum Insured Reboundr

What’s not included?

Adventure Sport injuries

Adventures can give you an adrenaline rush, but when coupled with accidents, it can be hazardous. Our health insurance plan does not cover accidents encountered while participating in adventure sports.

Self-inflicted injuries

You might think of causing injury to your precious self, but we don’t want you to hurt yourself. Our health insurance plan does not cover self-imposed injuries.

War

War can be disastrous and unfortunate. However, our health insurance plan does not cover any claim that are caused due to wars.

Participation in defense operations

Our health insurance plan does not cover accidents while you are participating in defense (Army/Navy/Air Force) operations.

Venereal or Sexually transmitted diseases

We do understand the criticality of your disease. However, our health insurance plan does not cover venereal or sexually transmitted diseases.

Treatment of Obesity or Cosmetic Surgery

Treatment of obesity or cosmetic surgery is not eligible for coverage under your health insurance plan.

Waiting Periods

First 24 Months from Policy Inception

Few illnesses & treatments are covered after 2 years of policy issuance.

First 48 Months from Policy Inception

Declared and/or accepted pre-existing conditions at the time of application will be covered after first 4 years of continual renewals.

First 30 Days from Policy Inception

Only accidental hospitalizations shall be admitted.

1. Why health insurance coverage is required for Senior citizen?

2. I was covered under company's insurance policy prior to retirement. Can I buy a health insurance post retirement for myself and/or my spouse with you?

Yes. Even if you are living a retired life, you and your spouse can get covered subject to your current medical condition.

3. What are the benefits which can be availed by senior citizens under the product?

With our health insurance plans for senior citizens you can avail benefits like lifetime renewability, no entry age restriction and several other subject to no adverse medical history.

4. What is covered under AYUSH Benefits?

Any expenses incurred for inpatient treatment taken under Ayurveda, Unani, Sidha or Homeopathy stream of medicine is covered under AYUSH benefits in HDFC ERGO Health Suraksha.

5. What is Cumulative Bonus?

Cumulative Bonus is the benefit given to the insured for every claim free year in his health insurance plan. It is usually provided as an increase in the sum assured without any hike in premium.

6. What do you mean by Pre-Existing Diseases?

Pre-existing diseases refers to any condition, ailment, injury or illness that you have been diagnosed with or had symptoms of 48 months before taking policy.

7. What is meant by organ donor expenses?

Organ donor expenses refers to the hospitalization expenses incurred by the donor during the course of donating an organ (excluding the cost of the organ) to the insured person.

8. What are the benefits of a Health Card?

A health card is like a mini-policy document that helps you avail cashless treatment in the network hospitals. It also contains the contact details of the in-house claim service team and comes really handy in case of a medical emergencies.

9. What is co-payment?

Co-payment is a clause under which the insured person agrees to pay a fixed percentage/amount of medical expenses incurred while the rest will be covered by the insurer.

10. My parents are having diabetes hypertension, can I buy this policy for them?

Yes. We at HDFC ERGO cover if you have hypertension or diabetes provided their control parametres are in acceptable limits. There would be a waiting periods of 3-4 years depending upon the plan chosen.

11. Is there any diseases restriction for Senior Citizens?

There is no disease-specific restriction in HDFC ERGO Health Insurance Plans.

12. What are the eligibility criteria for purchasing the policy?

Anyone above 91 days of age is eligible to purchase HDFC ERGO health insurance policies. There is no age restriction and no other criterion.
