🤕 Pre-existing disease

Claims related to the treatment of pre-existing diseases and their complications are not covered.

🌿 Homeopathic or herbal medication

The policy excludes claims associated with homeopathic or herbal medication.

🏥 Preventive treatment

Coverage does not extend to routine preventive treatments such as vaccinations, castration, bathing, grooming, nail clipping, dental scaling, etc.

💅 Cosmetic treatment

Treatment for cosmetic or psychological reasons is not covered unless medically required to restore functionality.

💳 Pregnancy-related expenses

Expenses related to pregnancy, complications, termination, birth, or puppy rearing are excluded.

🩺 Routine check-up

This policy does not cover Vet Visit Fees for routine check-ups, diagnostics, or vaccinations.

Is Vaccination Covered?

No. Routine vaccinations are explicitly excluded from coverage. The policy does not reimburse vaccination costs or routine preventive care such as castration, bathing, nail clipping, or grooming.

Are tele-consultations available?

Yes. The policy includes 2 video and 4 audio vet consultations annually via partner vets (Petofy) as a value-added service.

Is third-party liability covered?

Optional Third-Party Liability Cover is available, with indemnity limits ranging from ₹1 lakh to ₹1 crore, and no co-pay applies.

Are trips and funerals covered?

Yes—trip cancellation cover (domestic trips only) and funeral expense reimbursement (10% of base sum insured) are available as optional benefits.

What Does Pet Insurance Typically Cover?

Pet insurance provides financial coverage for veterinary expenses related to illness, injury, or accidents involving your pet. It helps offset the cost of medical treatment, ensuring that your pet receives the care they need without financial strain.

What are the entry and renewal age limits?

Entry age is between 6 months and 5 years, and renewal is permitted up to 7 years of age.

Is there a waiting period before the policy becomes active?

Yes, there is a 30 days waiting period, before we protect your furry friend.

What plan types are offered?

You may choose between a Comprehensive (All‑Risk) plan or a Customizable “Make Your Own Plan” that allows selecting injury, illness, or surgery covers separately.

How do I initiate a claim?

Notify HDFC ERGO within 24 hours (mortality/major illness) or 72 hours (other treatments). Submit the claim via app or email along with vet reports and bills.

Is cashless treatment available?

Cashless claims are supported at empaneled partner hospitals under the comprehensive plan.

What documents are needed for reimbursement claims?

Required documents include claim form, vet prescription, diagnostics, invoices, injury photos/videos, and details (e.g. FIR in liability cases).

What’s the typical claim settlement timeline?

Claims are generally settled within 7 working days of receipt of full documentation, if admissible.

Can I upgrade or change coverage at renewal?

Yes, customers can upgrade to a comprehensive plan or opt for additional covers (e.g. OPD, liability, tele-consults) at renewal.

Is there a grace period after expiration?

A grace period is available for late renewal, but no claims are admissible during this period.

Do pre-existing conditions affect renewal?

Yes. Pre-existing illnesses or injuries are excluded, even at renewal, unless declared and accepted by HDFC ERGO at policy inception.

Will I lose coverage if I forget to renew on time?

Yes. If you fail to renew the policy within the grace period, coverage will lapse, and you may need to reapply with fresh underwriting. During the grace period, no claims are allowed.
