PARENT’S
CORNER

As parents, it is necessary to be a pillar of strength to your children. While they are preparing for the HDFC ERGO Insurance Awareness Awards Junior, it is imperative that you are supportive of them. Lending your support to your child can be in many forms – you could be there to hear them out, perhaps cook them their favorite meal or even take charge of their study schedule. We have listed a few ways and things to ensure when your child prepares for the HDFC ERGO Insurance Awareness Junior.

  • Take this as an opportunity to learn with your child! By studying together, you can help your child prioritize his/her work. Besides this, studying with your child will help you brush up on your knowledge about insurance and also understand it better. Moreover, your child will be more confident knowing that you involved in his/her learning process.
  • While preparing for the competition, it is natural for your child’s daily schedule to go haywire. It can cause your child to skip his or her meals and sleep a lot lesser than the required time. It is your responsibility to ensure that your child gets adequate sleep. One way to do this is to allow your child to rest after a heavy study session, so that he/she will be refueled for the revision. Also encourage your child to take a brisk walk, at least once a day or before he/she begins a revision. Always ensure to avoid a late night or all-nighter study session.
  • Planning a study strategy is essential for every exam and this should be applied to the competition as well. Help your child to create a clear revision plan and method of studying that will make them feel in control of their work. Sitting with them for probably an hour and taking up their work can boost their confidence.
  • Creating a competition like setting can reduce stress when the actual quiz arrives. Make sure your child practices and solves multiple choice questionsat home while sticking to a time frame. This will also ensure that your child knows how to manage his/her time and not panic when under pressure during the competition. This can be made fun if the whole family gets involved and a quiz like setting is created.
  • Your child is banking on you for support. So simply be there for them, whether it’s a query or just to talk, schedule some time apart so that you can talk to them and find out if they are facing a difficulty in a certain area.
  • It is normal for your child to feel pressurized before the competition. It is for you to keep the atmosphere of the home as positive as possible. It is up to you to talk to your child and make him/her understand that this is only a competition. Emphasize on the point that this competition is mainly to teach and educate them about an important topic – insurance and the knowledge that they receive here will benefit them in the long run.
