Extended Warranty Insurance

 

As an owner or seller of an asset you would always want to have a worry free usage of it either for self or for your customer. HDFC ERGO Extended warranty insurance policy is designed to provide additional protection to your assets which are damaged because of manufacturing defects. This is a unique policy which provides option to extend the warranty cover for additional number of years.

It is an extension of the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty (OMW) with additional period of warranty on top of the Original Manufacturer’s Warranty. It is a tool by which a manufacturer / distributor / retailer of goods seeks to enhance the value of the product it manufactures / distributes / sells, thereby differentiating its product in the market.

For example, an Air conditioner manufacturer may offer a one year warranty on its entire range of Split AC and can offer to enhance the deal by adding another two or three years warranty into the package, thereby differentiating its product in the market. This additional Extended Warranty is backed by insurance.

Policy Duration

The Policy Period will commence on the expiry of the manufacturer’s product warranty period and will be in force for the period opted for Extended Warranty.

Sum Insured

The policy Sum insured would be the invoice value.

Sum Insured

Only new consumer durable and electronic appliance purchased from an authorized dealer / retailer which has manufacturer warranty.

Premium

The premium will depend upon the type of asset, invoice value, failure rate, manufacturer warranty extended warranty duration opted under the policy.

Excess

Applicability or non applicability of excess will depend on case to case basis.
