Loss of Baggage & Personal Documents

Coverage:

If, during the Period of Insurance, the Baggage, Personal Documents and/or Personal Effects owned by or in the custody of an Insured Person are damaged or lost, then the HDFC ERGO will reimburse the Insured Person the cost of replacement of the articles for any amount up to the Total Sum Insured stated in the Schedule. The deductible, if applicable, shall be deducted from the Compensation payable.

Procedure:

In the event of a claim the Insured Person must:
1) Give immediate written notice:
a) to the relevant Common Carrier in the event of loss or damage in transit;
b) to the relevant police authority in the event of loss or theft;
2) Obtain a Common Carrier or police report where the loss occurred
3) Notify the Assistance Company at telephone_011- 41898800/72 and report the incident. You will be given a Claims Reference Number, which you must mention in your Claim Form

Documents Required

  • Attached Claim Form and Section F - completed and signed by the Insured.
  • Original/Photo copy of FIR Report to be obtained from the relevant police authority in the event of loss or theft.
  • This is a written proof confirming that the loss has occurred due to theft.
  • Copy of the Old & New passport of the employee.
  • For claims involving jewellery, submit original or certified copies of valuation certificates issued prior to the commencement of the Period of Insurance.
  • Original/Photo Copy of Embassy receipts OR Passport office Receipts for the replacement of Passport.
  • Original purchase receipts in the event of claims regarding goods purchased during the Insured Journey
  • In the event of loss by a Common Carrier, retain original tickets and baggage slips and submit them when a claim is made.

Checked Baggage Loss

Coverage:

If, during the Period of Insurance, the Baggage, Personal Documents and/or Personal Effects that have been checked in on the same Common Carrier as a travelling Insured Person, are damaged or lost, then the Company will reimburse the Insured Person the cost of replacement of the articles for any amount up to the Total Sum Insured stated in the Schedule. The Deductible, if applicable, shall be deducted from the Compensation payable.

Procedure:

In the event of a claim the Insured Person must:
1) Give immediate written notice to the relevant Airlines in the event of loss or damage in transit
2) Obtain a PIR (Property Irregularity Report) from the Airlines where the loss occurred
3) Notify the Assistance Company at telephone 011-41898800/72 and report the incident
4) You will be given a Claims Reference Number, which you must mention in your Claim Form

  • Details of Compensation received from Airlines.

Baggage Delay

Coverage

If, during the Period of Insurance, the baggage and/or personal effects owned by or in the custody of an Insured. Person is delayed or misdirected for more than the Deductible stated in the Schedule, then the Company will reimburse the Insured Person the cost of necessary personal effects up to the Sum Insured stated in the schedule.

Procedure

In the event of a claim the Insured Person must:
1) Give immediate written notice to the relevant Airlines in the event of delay/loss or damage in transit
2) obtain a PIR (Property Irregularity Report) from the Airlines where the delay/loss occurred
3) Notify the Assistance Company at telephone 011-41898800/72 and report the incident. You will be given a Claims Reference Number, which you must mention in your Claim Form

  • Letter from Airlines mentioning the duration for which Baggage Delay has taken Place OR Any other Document suggestive of Proof of period for which Baggage Delay has taken Place.
  • Copies of Boarding Pass, Ticket and Baggage tags.
  • Copy of Passport showing the date of entry and exit related to journey (to & fro) from India.
  • Details of Compensation received from Airlines.
  • Original Bills/Receipts/Invoices for the necessary emergency purchases of toiletries, medication and clothing that he/she needed to buy during the period of Baggage Delay.

Flight Delay

Coverage

If during the Period of Insurance, the flight on which an Insured Person is due to travel is delayed in excess of the Deductible, then the Company agrees to reimburse up to the amount stated in the Schedule per hour, or up to the Total Sum Insured, whichever is the lesser, for essential purchases, such as meals, refreshments or other related expenses directly resulting from the:
1) delay or cancellation of the Insured Person’s booked and confirmed flight.
2) late arrival of the Insured Person’s connecting flight causing the Insured Person to miss his or her onward connection.
3) or a late arrival (of more than 1 hour) of public transport causing the Insured Person to miss the flight.

Procedure

In the event of a claim the Insured Person must:
1) Obtain confirmation letter from the Airlines clearly stating the duration and the reason for flight delay.
2) Notify the Assistance Company at telephone 011-41898800/72 and report the incident. You will be given a Claims Reference Number, which you must mention in your Claim Form

  • Confirmation letter from the Airlines clearly stating the duration and the reason for flight delay.
  • Invoices related to List of essential purchases made, such as meals, refreshments or other related expenses directly resulting from the flight delay.

Loss of Cash

Coverage

If, during an Insured Journey, Cash owned by or in the custody of an Insured Person is lost, then the Company will reimburse the Insured Person the amount up to the Total Sum Insured stated in the Schedule. The Deductible, if applicable, shall be deducted from the Compensation payable.
Cash means foreign currency and travelers cheques purchased for specific use during the Insured Journey.

Procedure

In the event of a claim the Insured Person must:
1) Give immediate written notice to the relevant police authority in the event of loss or theft.
2) Obtain police report where the loss occurred.
3) Notify Assistance Company at telephone 011-41898800/72 and report the incident. You will be given a Claims Reference Number, which you must mention in your Claim Form.

  • Submit documentation of Cash withdrawal/Travelers cheques, occurring within seventy-two (72) hours of the commencement of an Insured Journey that supports the amount of the claim.

Trip Cancellation

  • Claim Form and Section F – duly completed and signed by the Insured.
  • Invoices related to List of essential purchases made, such as meals, refreshments or other related expenses directly resulting from the Trip Cancellation.
  • Supporting Letter which proves the approximate reason for Trip Cancellation.

Trip Interruption

  • Claim Form – duly completed and signed by the Insured.
  • Copies of Boarding Pass & Ticket.
  • Invoices related to List of essential purchases made directly resulting from the Trip Interruption.
  • Supporting Letter which proves the approximate reason for Trip Cancellation.

Contingency Travel Benefits

  • Claim Form – duly completed and signed by the Insured.
  • Documentation in regards to Contingency.

Personal Liability (Non Medical)

  • Claim Form – duly completed and signed by the Insured.
  • Provide FIR Copy from the police That the Loss has occurred. Or A Copy of Legal notice which has been filed.

Emergency Travel Benefits

  • Claim Form – duly completed and signed by the Insured.
  • Proof will be required for reason of Emergency Travelling.
  • Doctors certificate Or Hospital Letter mentioning the intensity of the medical treatment required.
  • Bills/Invoices of the Transport used in emergency Travel Or any Other requirements bought in emergency.
